Remove P/S Pulley
Has anyone done a pulley swap on the pump?? I bought a new/rebuilt pump and need to keep my pulley. Whats the easiest way to get it off without bending the pulley or damaging the pump shaft?? I have a gear puller if that helps. Just dont know if its pressed on or what.

The pulley is a press fit. There are no set screws, bolts or anything like that.
When I reinstall one I use some Loctite "shaft and bearing mount" (green). Put some on the shaft and some on the ID of the pulley.
If your only going to do this one time, a cheap puller from Harbor Freight will work.
If you look at your pulley you will see a groove around the shoulder of the hole. The puller jaws fit in this groove to remove the pulley.
To reinstall, place the pulley over the shaft, place three or four flat washers over the hole and screw a bolt in the shaft and tighten down. Keep tightening untill the pulley is in the proper position.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll take it to a shop here in town and have them swap it for me. I really dont want to buy something for a one-time deal. I have a Harbor Freight spring compressor in my garage thats gathering dust.
