Just wondering if anyone ever had this problem. I've got a 89 F-250 4x4 w/ a 5 speed. I just got it and the tranny is jumping out of reverse. A new clutch was just installed by a friend, not a shop, and benn popping out ever sence.
Thanks, I'll get the truck this week and check the shifter installation. I've never been in one but there's a first time for everything. Any hints what to look for?
Also found out that it will not go into OD either. I'm thinking something is definately got crossed up when the guy put the shifter back in. Anyone ever seem this before?
M5R2 tranny, will not stay in rev. and will not go in OD. I took the top off and everythink was linned up right but the rev/ OD shifter just will not go into OD no mater what. Tried to turn the final drive while trying to get in to go in OD, no luck. It see the gear going from rev. to the neutral pos. and thats were it stops and it feels like the shift forks are hitting another gear or something. It looks like I may have to replace the rev/OD gears/ slider assembly. I researched and found that the M5R2 was bad for that for a few years until FORD revised it. ANY ONE ELSE BEEN IN MY POSITION? Just wondering if I need to repair or REPLACE?
Anyone know a good place to buy tranny parts with a good name? I need an updated rev/od slider kit for a M5R2 5 speed tranny for a 1989 Ford F-250 4X4. I can literally buy a rebuild tranny for what the local Ford dealer wants for a 6 piece UPDATED kit that they screwwed up on in the first place, what about a recall huh? Sorry, just venting.....
It was the OD/ Rev. slider ring gear that the rev. side was chewed down and not letting the ring slide to go into rev or od at all. Replaced it along with a new lower shift boot kit and it shifts like a dream!
