Hey guys, when I am under moderate to heavy acceleration, like passing a car, I get a belt squeal when the truck changes back to a lower gear. Is it loose. It only happens when I am under heavy acceleration. Regular driving, it is fine.
It's true. Never thought I'd have anything to say about a simple belt, but I put a couple of these on the car a while ago and these things are well designed.
For a quick fix, take an old wax candle (I say old because if you use a new one, your wife will kill you) with the engine running take the candle and hold it against both sides of the belt for a little bit to give it a little coating of wax, this should solve your problem. Be very careful when doing this however so you don't get caught in the belt or by the fan. Your idler pully could be going out also.
Sorry, my wife keeps the candles locked up (good thing too) I have used a spray a belt dressing a couple of times, just until I could get a new belt on.
Gatorbacks are the best, equal or even surpassing orginial Ford- IMHO.

Spray belt dressing basically does the same thing. I use a candle because it's cheaper, unless of course I get caught taking one by the wife, or get a DUI from drinking all the wine. It, like the dressing is not a permenant fix but it'll get you by for a while until you get a new belt.
