upper ball joint stud spinning

i'm trying to remove the steering knuckle on my 2000 expy.i cannot remove the nut from the upper ball joint because the stud keeps spinning.how can i keep the stud from spinning to remove the nut?thanks

Did you slightly jack up the lower control arm?
