2004 V10 3/4tn tranny

I was wondering what my transmission is the 04 deisel i traded was a torque shift. I dont know much about this stuff. And was wondering how tough the tranny i have is.

The '04 V10 has the 4R100 transmission. It's pretty reliable behind the V10.

That article is in need of some updating. MERCON V is now the right fluid.

Does this count as arguing with myself? Look at the top of that article to see who wrote it!

Hard to argue with a man with your credentials......but I'm on my 3rd 4r100 at 70,000 miles.

Of course, the same trans in our Lightning never missed a beat.

I honestly believe them to be hit or miss.

There's something wrong outside of the trans, or at least two of them were built wrong.

If the coolers are not replaced when the the trans is replaced it will often cause a repeat failure. It's impossible to get every bit of junk out of a used cooler. Sooner or later some of this junk can work loose and end up in the new trans and cause problems. Or there could be enough junk in the cooler to restrict flow and the trans overheats.
