quick water in fuel light question

might be a stupid novice question: but what plug do you pull to drain the water? My light has been coming on and don't know where the plug is. Thanks

It's a 6 millimeter allen screw in the frame rail of the truck on the driver's side, under the driver's floorboard area. Use a metric tool or it can be easily stripped. It's in the tech folder under "changing fuel filters." You can get a thumbscrew to replace the allen screw. The part number for that is in the tech folder too.

Tech folder is at the top of the forum 2003-2007 powerstroke home page. The screw plug will come out but water will start coming out before the plug comes all the way out of the threads.

this will show the HFCM, but unfortunately the brass plug you need to remove is hidden behind the wire with the red plug on one end.

this unit is mounted on your left frame rail under the driver seat just ahead of the transmission cross member. the brass plug is on the side of it, and you will most likely make a mess because the fuel will hit the front drive shaft as it comes out and go everywhere.

Do you run an additive in your fuel? If not you should consider one, the will dispers the water!

Some of the fuel headers have been known to go bad. If you are sure you've gotten all of the water out but the light is still coming on, you'll need to take it in and have it checked. It's a common problem.
