Got my brand new 2004 E.B. Exp. for my birthday in September (nice present!) I love it except I am concerned about the sunroof. After going through a carwash or a heavy rain, I notice there is water collected towards the back of the sunroof. Not dripping but definitely wet. Had it back to the dealer twice. The first time, they kept it 3 days, and said they replaced it. Still leaked. Second time, they kept it 4 hours and said that was normal. They say there is a channel tube back there and it is normal for water to collect. Is this correct. Any ideas on how I should proceed? The dealer has been friendly but I've got a bad feeling. Help!
I have a 2003 Eddie Bauer Expedition w/ the sunroof and during really hard downpours I will feel a tiny drop everynow and then, can't even see it on my arm, but only during really heavy downpours. Is that what you're talking about or is it large drops and does it occur with any rain?
I had a water leak problem with my 03 Expy. Would leak mostly thru the grab handles on the A pillars, occationally thru the lights overhead and twise thru the dvd player. Went to the dealer many time. Would only leak if I parked it slightly uphill. It was very noticable and would drip so much when I turned corners that my arm and pants would be wet. Dealer couldn't duplicate, but I was able to video the problem and bring it in while it was leaking. They tried many fixes, special coating to help for any pinholes in the welds, blew out drain tubes, and even replaced the front window seal (this was a TSB). Nothing worked so Ford bought back my vehicle. Now have an 05 expy limited and loving it .....NO LEAK
I have never had the grab handle leaks nor the DVD player leaks, I wonder why some do this so much and some not at all? I'm glad you're loving your '05 so much, I'm still loving my '03 right now tho. I haven't had near as many problems as many people have had with theirs, no rear-end whine, rattling, shuttering when turning, or major leaks. I think I'm very lucky considering I have an early build '03 with hardly any problems; my friend's '04 has many problems.
