I have a 02 explorer with the sunroof/moonroof option. everytime i go over even the slightest bump my sunroof rattles. i can't find anywhere to adjust it so it doesnt make noise. i can even lift it with just my hand a little. at this time, it does seem to be leaking. any ideas?
Is it loose all over, or only in the front, back, or one of the sides? My first guess would be one (or both) of the side tracs is loose. I haven't looked at the tracks on an 02, but I know on my 97, when I had the paint done, they did not tighten the rear track bolts all the way. It left some play in the entire sunroof - rails and all. I had to drop the headliner and retighten all the mounting bolts.
Mine just started the exact same thing....it seems to be looser in the rear when closed. It appears to need to be adjusted down tighter. Is this possible? I get wind noise when the roof is closed also...
I know one of the square clips on the deflector broke off also, but that is only loose when the roof is open.
There is a support bar at the rear of the glass that is held by 4 screws, I think. There is a thread about this in either this or the expedition forum and you should do a search. If I remember. there are some pics posted also. I don't believe the repair requires too much time or skill to do.
