How can I prevent rust around wheelwells?
I was wondering if there is anything I can do to prevent the rust in wheel weels on my brand new Ford. Note I love Ford trucks would never consider any other kind, but lets face the facts, Ford hasn't worked out this problem in the past. I had my truck undercoated before I ever drove it. However I still worry some day my baby will rust. Any one know how to eliminate the build up of sand salt and other contaminates the make the wheel wells rust? I will pay to protect, any help would be appreciated.

From what I have seen the badly rusted parts on vehicles seem to be the sheetmetal parts that are enclosed where moisture and mud cannot be removed/washed out. Those two components will be the culprit for speeding up the process of getting rusty metal. Everytime you wash the truck, be sure and run the garden hose sprayer around the inside lip of the fender well to keep mud from collecting and trapping moisture against the metal gutters and cavities. ( dont use a car washes high pressure washer wand to clean the back edge of your fenders, they will peel the paint starting at the fender well lip, where its sharp edge doesnt have as much paint on it) Keep a eye on your factory undercoating too and keep it up to snuff, all in all, metal is just not what it used to be, and to have a 12 year old vehicle nowadays, that it rust free, is a prize in itself.
