Fuelpump for '66 F250 w/ 240

Any suggestions for where to buy a mechanical fuel pump to replace the original? NAPA seems to only have electric pump recommendations.
Or is it possible to rebuild the original?

Most modern fuel pumps for our trucks are not as good as the originals and yes, the originals can usually be rebuilt. Arthur Gould doesn't seem to ever buy a secure certificate for their web site so it isn't the best, but they are in Rutland, MA. Give them a call and tell them what you've got and see what they can do for you. They are one of the few left that do it and they are on Facebook and eBay as a seller with a store.

Modern ones are often crimped together around the flange where yours has the straight head screws. That is the kind Gould can rebuild with the screws like yours has.

They don't do these types, at least last I asked.

@66F100Again - I'm in a similar situation so can add these thoughts:
1. Yes you can buy a new crimped mechanical fuel pump and it will last you somewhere between 0 and 1000 miles. I know because I've gone thru four (4!) over the last 3000 miles with my '66 F100 w/ the 240. If you do go that route, make sure you get a pump with the same length lever as what you have now. I learned that at NAPA the pump they have listed for a 1966 Ford 240 will be the long-lever type which did not fit my motor. If that happens to you as well, search for the Mustang pump of the same year (NAPA PN B0265P) - that's got the short lever (but no housing for a fuel filter).
2. Assuming you go the rebuild route, you can also consider buying a rebuild kit from https://www.thenandnowautomotive.com/. That's the route I'm going and Tom at Then and Now was very helpful in getting the right kit. Still have yet to receive it (lead times are long) but I can follow up with you on my progress if you are interested.

I am so grateful when someone reads a thread, has something very pertinent to add, and jumps in with great info. Thanks Two_kicker, that is exactly what this forum is all about.

Thanks, Two kicker
Yes, do let me know how the rebuild-kit route goes.
How much did the rebuild-kit cost?

It was ~$50 which I know is more than what some NOS pumps are going for on eBay but I wanted to learn and see if I could fix it. I couldn't find any part number on my pump that matched his inventory but he, like @TA455HO , quickly identified what I needed after he looked at some pics.

Will follow up when I get my kit.

One other thing: I bought this pricey housing from Dennis Carpenter to replace my grungy filter canister and it won't thread on easily. The fit is too tight (it's marring the threads on the pump) so it's going back. Another lesson learned that might help you.

Thanks.
My truck's fuel pump is AC 6837, shown on tag in photo.
I'll contact then and now to see what they have; they're located ~45 mins from where I live.

When searching for something like the fuel pump don't lock yourself in by searching for just your vehicle. The same type of pump was used on a bunch of different engines and vehicles. There minor differences in inlets, outlets etc. My interchange parts book shows WAY too many part numbers and stamping numbers for me to be willing to type. But the engines that interchange are I6-144,170,200,223,240,250 used in Mustangs, Falcons, Broncos, Fairlane, Torino's, Mavericks, and more.

While I'm deciding on whether to rebuild the AC6837 pump myself, or have it rebuilt, I was thinking of buying a new pump for now so that I can use the truck.
LMC Truck has this one (43-4705) for 1965-1972 6 cylinder for $49.95.
=> Has anyone used this and had good luck?

That looks like the one I got from my Napa a few yrs ago... he had to order it in, pretty sure it was same price, it's still running as of yesterday when I took Shrek for a run into town.
