NO Start issue.

Well Mom called and said her truck will not start so went over there and took a reading on the battery it was 11.0VDC so tried jumpers and manage to get 13.5 on to it still no start so took jumpers off and checked battery again 12.0 so looked at battery it was 6 years old so that has to be it so went and bought another battery installed it nothing still. Crawled under it jumper from POS battery post to the solenoid and it engages the starter and turns over so some where in between the starter and the ignition switch I have lost my 12VCD telling the starter to engage. HELP I have worked on a new 2003 F-150 in ten years.

I meant to ask on the older truck they had a starter solenoid on the wall is the round thing next to the battery have anything to do with the starting it the original 2003 one and how do you check it??

The other thing the guy should have done though was to check for voltage on that small pressed-on wire to the right, with the key at Start. That's what powers the solenoid to cause those two big wires to be connected. Pop the wire off of the terminal, stick a meter lead or a test light in the plug and turn the key to Start. If the light doesn't light or there's no voltage shown there's a problem with the ignition switch or the wiring. Solenoid (starter relay) is highly likely though.

Good video though.

yap Have no power on the white/red wire to solenoid so it’s either ignition switch or neutral safety switch

Is it an automatic? You said neutral safety switch.

Here is the schematic for a 2003 manual transmission. The fuse is probably the same. Worth a quick check.

You check the start solenoid by the battery like all the others
Juice comes from the ignition switch and that closes the contacts in the solenoid sending juice to the starter
Then there's another one down below on your starter that you check the same way
A 2003 EVTM like Bare bones posted will have the schematic and a start circuit diagnosis page
A copy of that book would help you
Checking the fuse is just 1 step in a long list

Well after finally finding my 97-99 Haynes Manual I knew where to start. It ended up being the neutral safety switch. Climb under there and pulled the plug stuck a paper clip in the #9 hole put a test light and had Mom start the truck and test light came on then looked for the Tan/Red wire jumped that paper clip to it and started the truck.
