When my truck gets below half, maybe 3/8’s of a tank, it starts to act like it’s starving for fuel. You can’t run watch the AFR gauge and it goes lean and the rich when it catches up. It is one hundred percent dependent upon how much fuel
is in the tank. As soon as you fill it up the problem goes away.
The tank is a LMC reproduction tank. I’m wondering if there is a pinhole or something in the pickup tube in the tank that’s around that 3/8’s mark or if it’s vapor locking?
I would look into repairing what you have. Just not sure how? Pull the sender out and make sure the tank is above the level you are having the issue at. Then apply a little pressure through the pick-up tube and see if you can locate the leak? Once located, the hard part will be the repair. But finding the issue should be the first step. If there isn't a leak, something else is causing your problem.
