Best budget set up for carbureted 300

Hello, I have a 1978 carbureted 300 inline 6 in my f250 and I want to improve the responsiveness and add a little more power/torque. It has a mild cam in it and it was rebuilt in the 90's. Because I am 15, I don't exactly have the money to dump $1000 usd for an offy/aussie intake. I bought an adapter and got a 2 barrel carb for it but it seems kind of stupid because the 2v will be choked down to a 1v.
I have checked ebay, but is there any other place I could find one. Thanks,

You are right on the adapter and choke down going into a small hole of the log intake manifold.
Ebay, for sale on here in different areas, Face Book marketplace maybe?
Maybe way out in left field the junk yard? I would not pass by the EFI trucks as someone may have installed a intake & carb on it.

You are thinking of improving the inlet side of the motor what are you doing on the output side?
Headers are some big $$$ and dont know if they make them for your truck and they tend to leak.
Look into the EFI factory exhaust manifolds. They are like shorty headers but cast iron and dont leak.
They say they flow better than the factory log exhaust manifold but have not seen any numbers to say so.
You can also run the factory Y pipe and build from there back.

On my 81 F100 I run the factory carb & intake but the EFI exhaust manifolds, Y pipe and 94 F150 pipes all the way back less cat and a Thrush welded muffler, replacement for the factory muffler.
This way I can get any exhaust parts from any parts store.
Would I like a little more power, yes who doesnt but it works for me as I am not in any rust to get anywhere.
I would the truck pulling a 20' enclosed trailer for the car club, it has made a few trips 50 miles 1 way pulling a flatbed trailer loaded with large off road tires and bins.
Just 2 weeks ago I loaded the bed with dirt 2 times to bring back to my house, that was a heavy load.
Monday I am going 2 hours to pick up a 77 CJ5 Jeep and brining it back home. That should be a real good test.
Today weekly trash to the dump and a cars & coffee after.
