I'm replacing the roller followers on my son's 2005 F250 5.4l 3v. Driver's side went smooth. Passenger side went smooth until I got to the ones next to the evaporator box. The 3 bottom ones don't have enough clearance from the evap box to get the depressor tool in. Will I have to remove the evap box or is there another trick I could use?
I dont see many 3v any more, but from what i remember I think I took the 2v tool and sanded the inside of the fingers till it fit the 3v.. Also, You have water intrusion on #2 cylinder spark plug tube. I would suggest finding/fixing the water leak..
Thanks...I thought Monroe's reply seemed odd. I ended up emailing Brian(FordTechMakuloko) and he suggested slowly loosening the cam caps until I could sneak them out of there. That worked perfectly. Got everything out back together and now trying to troubleshoot a lean condition code. I'm thinking I have a vacuum leak somewhere.
Good job! My Son had a 3 valve and when I did a timing job I notice there's not much room to work in there.
Yeah, even in the f250 it's still pretty tight. My stomach is bruised and back is killing me from leaning over it the last few days. Just hoping the timing components hold up a while longer.
