Quick question. I have the stealth box in my truck, with 2 amps where the jack was located. Since the box is ported, would I loose anything if I install a cover around the remaining open portion of the passenger side? I am in the process of making it with some extra fiberboard I had around, even took a CPU vent grill cover and was going to use that to allow air flow into it. A local upholstry shop has the carpet I need. Just wanted to make it look alittle more uniform.
Thanx!

Each installer charges a different price, it would be best if you checked around the authorized JL dealers. If you worried about cost, JL is not for you cuz it is spendy.
No I'm not worried about cost at all, but I'm in Iraq and coming home soon. So I would like to know about how much its gonna cost me. I have sent out e-mails but I haven't recieved any responses back yet

Iraq...Yikes... Never been in Iraq, but was there for the first one. Did 10 yrs in the Army.
Elite, really it all depends on your dealer. I got a hell've a deal cuz I bought everything at once. All JL of course. Look for a price between $540-$570 if you buy an amp from the same place. Also, if you have them install it, they should knock some off.
The only drawback about that whole F150 SCab is if you choose not to put the amps behind the seat, you loose your jack. Right now im in the process of enclosing the amps, to complete the stealth install. I didnt want the jacks behind the seat, just a personal preference. Still playing with the ideal of where to put that jack, under the hood or on the spare just doesnt sound good to me.
I The bottom line comes to user taste, Controls, feel etc. No one system fits all end users.
Hey man, Thanks alot for the reply. Ya the jack I don't know where I'm gonna put mine yet. I might put it on the spare tire but only if the wheel is deep enough if not I will find some other nifty little spot to put it. I just wanna get home and drive it. I got it in Sep. put 800 miles on it and came back here. All I can say is that I hope gas doesn't go back up over 3 bucks a gallon again, wow that hurt my eyes to see 85 bucks for a fill up. Anyway thank again for the reply....
If you are looking for a jack spot, you might also consider getting a good hydralic bottle jack, if you have ever used on of those screw types, you'll completely understand. On my truck underneath the bed on the passenger side, I had all kinds of room on the frame rail. I made a braket to hold two deep cell batteries to hang off the frame rail in this location and you cannot see the batteries or braket when all installed.
Wow, The frame rail thats an outstanding idea. Did you weld it or bolt it on? I'll have to check for some space there as soon as I get back from Iraq which will be very soon If not there im sure can find some room somewhere in that area.
No I don't have any rattles, but I am also not bolting a jack down, one thing you could probably look for on the stock jack does it have a hole some where through the base of it where you could use like a grade 5 bolt and find an existing hole in the frame and bolt it together, a junk of rubber or silicone between the two would definately eliminate any rattle. I built the box to have four bolts, two over the top and two under neath. Have two plates on the other side and it pinches the frame in between the braket and the plates. I used grade 8 bolts on mine, putting two deep cells in the configuration that I used is going to put a lot of strain on the bolts. The bracket hasn't moved and going on 9 months or so now. At first I was checking it like every other day, now I only check it when I am under the truck for something.
Got the amp cover completed yesterday. Dropped it off at the carpet shop today to get it covered with matching carpet. For not working with wood in along time, it was pretty easy. Even my installer was pretty darn impressed with my creation. I kept on being told you couldnt bend wood to conform with the radical contours of the stealthbox... I proved him wrong. I messed up and forgot to take a picture of the cover with the skin attached to it. I called up the carpet shop to get me a picture or two. Keeping fingers crossed!! If you want the secret to how I got the wood to bend, check my gallery out!
