Greetings, I'm a newbee to FTE, but not to Ford trucks. I just purchased a 2001 F350 7.3 diesel dually and am in the process of replacing the previous owner's aftermarket radio and installing a current radio unit that supports a backup camera. The rear camera requires a reverse light activation signal from the factory harness to activate the rear camera. The reverse wire is black w/pink stripe per the camera instructions, and I have it located at the under dash fuse panel plugin. Pin # 6 is the black/pink wire. However, when I test the reverse light wire for power with a probe in the key-on run position, I get a constant 12v reading, no matter what gear the transmission shift lever position is in. I was expecting the black/pink wire to be hot only in reverse gear. Yet the factory reverse lights in the deck bed work correctly by the gear selector; I'm stumped. See pictures; any suggestions?
LATE NIGHT UPDATE: there are TWO black/pink wires at the fuse box plug, so I am thinking that one is for the key-on power input and the other is for the reverse light power circuit. Tomorrow I'll check the second wire for gear selection power in reverse....
