I installed a reverse camera to my new Pioneer in-dash nav head unit this morning. I wired (at the rear of the truck) the power signal lead to the reverse wire at the trailer connector. I also need to wire a reverse signal input into the back of the head unit. I really do not want to run a power lead from the rear of the truck to the cab. Is there a wire under the dash I can tap into, or could I use the wire going to the backup alarm that’s somewhere under the dash (if I can find it). 2010 F350 deisel, crew cab, 4WD, long bed.<O</O
One place I found that wire on my 06 was in the passenger side
kick plannel where the plug for the parking assist is located. If
you don't have a wiring diagram you can goto ALLDATA
and get a short term access and download what you need. Also you
can download everything for you year truck and save it for later uses.
on my 04 I had to pick up reverse from the kick panel as well. for 2010 I thought ford had a reverse wire already up in the radio harness. You should check before you dig to far elsewhere.

The 2006 has VSS but no reverse. So if the OP is working on a 2010 a copy of the
stereo wiring diagran should do the trick.
Ended up running a lead to the rear of the truck. Didn't think of the factory radio harness, although the factory system was a basic CD/AM/FM (nothing fancy). Not sure if the harness was/is wired for all system though. I will take a look at the wiring diagram. I would prefer the connection to be behind the dash instead of under the truck (one less wire to have snow and ice hang on. Thanks all.
One way to keep water out is heat-shrink tube with mastic in it.
The stuff melts and seals the ends to keep water out.
You can pick up this kit and use the tube for the project Flotec Submersible Wire Splice Kit-TC2172 at The Home Depot
there is a black and pink wire that runs into the fuse block you can tap into. just finally installed my camera a couple weekends ago and googled wiring it, got the info on the black/pink wire on another truck forum and it worked like a charm.. i'll see if i can find it.
EDIT: found it. hope i don't offend the powers that be by posting this, but this is the best info i found on the net (and why not have it on the best ford site on the net too, no? )
I know it's a little late, but most trucks have a reverse power lead in the overhead that goes to the rearview mirror. the reverse lead is used to turn off the dimming mirror at night. On my old truck I had retrofitted a 2010 F-150 mirror and camera and fought this wiring fun for several days.

Do you have a picture of this wire and location. I also have an 04 and I need assistance
