I have been beat up and cussed on this subject, I have a complete setup out of a 1978 F150 everyone keeps saying plug and play but they are all 65 up owners. I HAVE a1962 is this even possible for the 62? I'll include some pics even ones on e-bay are 65 up same for DC. Also would like to talk to a 61-63 owner I installed CPP power steering put an IDIDIT column but it is off center how did you deal with this? out of 78 f150 with new switch wire colors whole assy wiring with relay box The money pit should of kept that $500. Column is kind of laying on floor but you see where it is off to the right. Called IDIDIT and they had no idea. Mine was ordering the 2inch swivel ball and making a new bracket.
Yes, I have done the delay wipers, used a late 80's switch and box. Bought a 65 motor from ebay. Re used the 61 bracket and drive arm on the 65 motor, the 65 and up motor has the correct harness for the box connection. I have NEVER seen an original 61 to 62 motor with the correct connections on the motor. That should leave only the power connection and a windshield squirt connection left. Maybe a black ground wire that was riveted to the dash. So do you have the correct newer motor? The motor has the power connection, and will be "hot" anytime the key is on, but controlled by your new switch.
Here is the style motor your looking for. It has the connector that plugs into the delay harness and the power wire for the whole sheebang. But WOW are they looking for a "turnup fresh off the truck" at that price.
Good picture in that ad of the orange-white stripe wire with ring terminal. That wire provides power to the motor through the switch from the center post of the ignition switch like @53deere was mentioning in the other thread on this subject.
I couldn't find the 1966 but did find the 1967 wiper wiring diagram which shows the question mark shaped connector. That connector wasn't used until part way into the 1966 model year.
The 1965 wiper motors don't have the 5-wire connector shaped like a question mark that mates with the 7 terminal wiper switches. That started as of 760,001 in October 1965 for the 1966 model year as ND states in this thread below, for example.
My 66 had a single speed wiper motor from the factory. I used a motor from a 78 parts truck with the original 66 bracket and arm. I bought a delay module and switch on eBay, not even sure what year it was from. Everything bolted up, plugged together with no mods. Connect up power to it and it was good to go. From my experience the module and switches were all the same from when they came out in the 70s up until the wiper switch moved to the column. I added delay wipers to my 86 back in the day with a switch and module that I pulled from an 80. All the same parts I put in my 66 from what I remember.
Ok I fessed up to Brian Morrison already he truly tried to help, but it was my own senior moment. Finally put wipers on back burner and have been out JY yarding got all the backets to put updated alternator and get my power steering pump a home. I used a 91 F150 for everything the alternator bracket and new alternator, the power steering I goofed it was a single mount for the PS so I thought hey? Well there were different thicknesses. Yay go figure so went back found another same year and had to get the whole stack a/c compressor and PS. I did find another there on a pulled motor a Ford it looked right BS got home cleaned up painted and not one hole would line up... So went back next day and got another 91 and had to disassemble the whole side to get what I needed. Finally back home and everything is soaking to clean and bead blast to paint. OH Yeah the other one on the motor outside it was a big block out of a one ton. Another senior moment. Now with the alternator bracket painted and alt. installed ( I even got the whole wire harness) all but in and wow something fit. Well thats when I figured my first real senior moment my wipers have worked all along I just didn't have power int the cab yet!!! What a klutz. Get stuff cleaned and mounted and snap some pics.
Finally got back up here to finish post. I am an old man 72 beginning to wonder but this keeps me busy. We finally got the entire wiper system up and running. In my foggy mine we had the entire harness even found a brand-new wiper motor that matched the mount. It was me I had not added a hot wire to the hook up by the motor to feed back to power everything. I was so humbled I quit for the day. Now working on interior harness the young guy, I bought truck from had taken entire harness out of cab he was going to go digital!!!! Anyway, I found a guy parting out a 62 unibody like mine and I talked and purchased the entire cab interior wires. radio steering column (not needed) so last few days has been mounting, separating, just basic clean up. Have everything pretty read to go but have some off on left that aren't connected. Trying to find a good wire diagram I have some out of the books and took to local published and he actually blew the up to poster size. Yah Hoo I can see with out my spectacles
I CAN FINALY POST THAT THE WIPER S ARE A DONE DEAL, THY INTERMIT FAST AND SLOW AND PARK THAT HORSE IS DEAD. Know just trying to put everything back on piece buy piece. These critters aren't cheap my grille was a little toast so i THOUGHT LETS PRICE ONE WOW!! I just wanted stamped steel as I plan on painting it two tone so I had to drag out the old media blaster to knock some paint and rust off. Still trying to figure which car GOD I have pissed off seem like I get smooth sailing then someone threws a mountain in the way. Any Folks thanks for all the advice and options you post for us.
