From the manual, you have a 7.5 gal capacity, and usage is expected to be:
The usage of diesel exhaust fluid has increased from prior model years in order to meet more stringent emissions requirements. The diesel exhaust fluid usage ranges from approximately 2-6% of fuel burned (100.00 gal (378.54 L) of fuel requires approximately 2.00 gal (7.57 L)to 6.00 gal (22.71 L) of diesel exhaust fluid) depending on vehicle usage. Factors that influence diesel exhaust fluid usage may include:
- Payload/Towing
- Driving Style
- Altitude
- Humidity
- Temperature

Hi Randy,
With 20,000 miles on my 23 I range between 750 to 1000 mpg unloaded in mixed suburban and highway use. Towing #7000 I get between 350 - 450 mpg. I keep to the speed limit and I mostly drive conservatively.

I'm just past 40,000 miles on my 2023 F350 HO
Empty, I'm averaging 800 mpg of DEF
Towing my 13,000 lbs GN horse trailer around Utah ( plenty of 7% grades) I average 350 mpg of DEF
The biggest problem with DEF on the 23+ trucks is the algorithm they use to calculate distance left in the tank. It just takes one really hard climb pulling the trailer for the computer to pop up and say 500 miles to De-Rate. Then I drive 500 miles and it still only takes 3.2 gallons to top off tank. It seems to do all calculations based on your worst consumption and once the light pop's on, it won't recalc until your fill the tank again.
