A Deal on the M12 Milwaukee ratchet everyone loves

I stumbled on this deal at HD. You can buy an M12 Drill with a 2ah and a 4ah battery plus a charger for $179 and choose to get an M12 ratchet for free and with free shipping. Home Depot Deal I know Diesel Tech Ron loved that ratchet. I just finished several days of wrenching on the 6.0 and I can see where it would have been greatly helpful. That said... I hope I don't need if for a LONG TIME!

I have that ratchet and I see many YouTube videos where its used as well---even Brian of FordTechMakuloco uses it quite often in his videos. too.

The deal is good considering the "free" ratchet but I don't need a hammer drill so its not for me---at this time.

It isn't a hammer drill. It's a normal drill driver. I didn't need one either but I couldn't see any way to get the ratchet a charger and even one battery for close to that price. And actually the drill motor is quite small and could be useful in tight places.
I know the deal isn't for everyone but I just thought I'd throw it out there since that tool is so popular.

Obviously you need to downgrade!

And this really only makes sense if you have no M12 stuff and need the batteries too. That's the only reason I got it.

You might want to re-check the Home Depot product description because it lists the primary tool as a "hammer-drill kit", it even lists the tool's "blows-per-minute"! Using the link you've provided reveals this.

Hammer drills are just like regular drills, except they have an added feature. Well,.. at least the Milwaukee drills do. You just spin the head to the hammer position and get busy.

Been using an M12 ratchet for years on the job and also at home. They are nice to have around. Keep an eye on HD for those deals, they run them all the time.

The ratchet is M12. Not sure what the thinking is for not having a set or collection of tools that all use the same battery. The battery is the most expensive part of the tool most of the time, that's one of the reasons they run those sales, to get rid of all the tools they have on the shelf. You don't have to buy a battery with every tool. Pretty damned convenient and money saving if you have 1 battery you can use with multiple tools. Kind of a no brainer actually.

Be careful when buying from a big box store. The model number on some of the Milwaukee tools doesn't show up on there website. They are made only for big box stores. And when you go to Milwaukee for service, they won't do anything for you. if you use a tool as a hobby, you would probably be OK but to work it every day will cause problems. And I live and breath by my M18 tools

Hmmm that's somethng to ponder, if I ever have one of these tools break on me. Haven't had that experience yet. (Knock on wood)

*Crickets chirping in background* waiting for the other 32 techs in my shop to report any failures.
