16 F350 Diesel Lariat - Clockwork Spring Recall
Ford Dealer diagnosed and replaced the clockwork spring in the steering wheel assembly. Problem solved.
Yesterday, I got a Recall Notice on my 16 diesel Lariat for contamination of the clockwork spring.
Went to the Ford Dealer that does my service. Service Manager looked at my paperwork and said, despite what Ford says on the Ford Owner Support website (see below), he has had no guidance from Ford on this recall, and cannot submit a claim for reimbursement. He says what I got in the mail is a "Pre-Notification" of Recall, and I need to wait for the follow-up Recall notice. My account on the Ford Oner Support page clearly says "Recall". . As such, he can do nothing.
"If you become aware of a recall after you’ve repaired the issue it’s important to remember that, under current National Highway Traffic Safety Administration guidelines, you may be entitled to reimbursement. To request a refund, submit your paid original receipts to the Service Manager at your local Ford dealership."
Never heard of anything like what this guy is telling me. Sounds very fishy to me.
This was a $499.00 repair.
If there is a Ford Representative who may see this - I sure could use some help.
Comments anyone?
