Many states have made tinting a windshield illegal based on the fact that it reduces the clarity of view for the driver. For my trucks I buy the tinted and shaded windshields...the shielded strip across the top off the windshield adds a lot of sun shading without creating an issue with the field of view.

So basically I need to buy a new windshield because Classics have No exemptions for this.
I did a little more digging on this tinting for windshields and found MANY videos on YouTube of nano-ceramic films being applied both on the outer and inner surfaces of the glass. You may want to do a little digging on your own and see if there isn't a solution that meets your needs. Until now I always thought of a tint being applied to the inside of the glass, mainly because the films that were used "back in the day" were not very durable. Obviously with the technology as it is today these films are very durable and chip resistant. It might be worthwhile to consider adding a film to the windshield just to prevent rock chip damage.

I did the Ceramic window tint on my 55. I did all of the windows. Lighter tint on the front and rear windows and a little darker on the sides and wings. The reduction in temperature in the cab when the sun is out is huge. Visibility day and night is still great. The ceramic does not cause any blurring, glare or making it too dark at night. You clean it with a damp rag. It took the guy about 3 hours to do all the windows. I am very happy with the ceramic and would do it again.
Here are a couple of pics so you can see what it looks like from the outside. Front windshield was dirty when I took the picture.
