Here in NJ you are not allowed to tint the front two windows of any vechicle. I know when you go through the inspection station if you have the film on the windows they will fail the vechicle. BUt lets say I could find the drivers side and passange side front windows already titned from the window manufacture. Has any body ever seen the glass made like this and would I pass inspection.
the glass is not real hard to change out, could get a extra set of glass to have tinted. Depends on how bad you want them tintied I guess. Dont know if it would be worth it to me, but its a thought.
If you some how get past inspection, you will only get stoped all the
time, and you will get a ticket. The police need to see into the truck.
Don't waste your time and money.
Do like I did when I lived back east where they have the "stupid" laws...
Learn how to tint it yourself and if you get an inspection ticket or need to pass the safety inspection, you can remove it and re-apply it when the time is right.
Thank for the sugestions but been there done that. I just thought that if the glass was made tinted already, swap out the stock units and then no one can say a thing because it is in the glass.
At the inspection, they'll test the opacity of the window and regardless of the method it has to be a certain transmission of light, I believe 85%. As for the stupidity of it, there are a couple of main of arguments about it, both pro and con: 1) you can't see out of it well at night depending on the tint; 2) the government is over-regulating everything (which I agree with); 3) they say its safer for cops approaching the car, truck or whatever (although you have to walk past the rear, blacked-out windows anyway to get to the front windows).
Pragmatically, you'll get stopped more frequently and stand a chance of (legitimately) being greeted with a .40' -.45' tube depending on the situation. The choice is yours.
