I’m having issues with my wipers on truck.
88 f150 5speed. 5.0
issue I’m having is high speed has a stutter or lapse with every wipe. With this low does not work at all.
With manually clicking wiper switch from off to high I can keep them going, after half a dozen wipes with switch left on it basically stalls out.
they will come on periodically working correctly.
I have switched motors from a newer vehicle, swapped dash switch.
With motor pulled off and plugged in it still stutters so not linkage to wiper arms.
Not sure where to dig from here and wonder if anyone has had similar problems.
I did pull motor apart and inspected gears and all looks good to me.
A short in truck ?
Thanks.
Did install new shocks today so that was a win.

Yay on the shocks. If your truck hast intermittent wipers, this likely a fault in the intermittent wiper control module. If not, there is a thread somewhere on her, that details removing the cover on the wiper motor, and cleaning all the gunk off the contact areas. I'd post it, but, I couldn't find it. It is very common for the control module to go out, as the parking brake is released, it slams up, sending vibration to the module, and breaking solder joints over time. If this is your issues, simply mount the module in a different location. I did it using zip ties. Just unplugged the old module, left it there and plugged in the new one. They are still out there on e-bay.
Good luck
Thanks, mine does not have intermittent wipers, just high and low.
I did pull motor apart , saw the contacts and they are covered in factory grease.
I did emery cloth the contacts on cover maybe I need to do a better job idk.
I will search for threads on wipers.
thanks
are you sure it does not have intermittent wipers? to check, turn the **** PAST off in the other direction.
because the symptoms you are describing is identical to a bad solder joint in the delay control module.
Guys, thanks so much . I just discovered that if you turn wiper **** to the left past off I’m going to assume that is the intermittent wiper range.
Never realized I had that, often wondered if I could add that in.
I will locate module and diagnose.
would never have figured that out without this forum.
Thanks for replies and help.
is clipped to the dash frame between the switch and motor.
undo the switch and follow the wire, and it should plug into the module.
take it out and pop the cover off. look for loose/broken/burned solder joints.
they can usually be repaired with a soldering iron and a dab of solder.
what happens is over the years of using the parking brake, every time it is released and slams into the stop it sends a jolt through the dash.
this in turn plays havoc on the printed circuit board in the module.
you can buy one new, but they are expensive. like over $100 expensive.
