Looking at a early 2011 with 110,000 miles. It is deleted and has a misfire on cylinder 5. Dealer put a new injector in it and didn’t clear. So currently they unplugged number five to keep it from smoking. This concerns me a little too because obviously nothing is firing but I also assume there’s no fuel being dumped if the injector is unplugged??? What are possible cause of this? I’ve seen where the valves can cause this when in regen, but obviously this trucks not in regen. It’s a pretty decent deal and I think I can still get them to cheaper yet, but just wondering what kind of can of mess I might be looking at. Thanks for the input.
Did they reprogram the new injector to the truck? It is my understanding the new injector has to be programed into the truck ECM. Someone with more knowledge will probably chime in.
I wouldn’t disagree with this, that’s what kinda scares me is why would they sell it as cheap as I’m able to buy it instead of just paying someone to fix it. The dealer has been around forever and has a good reputation so that helps the thought that they’re not trying to pull a fast one but still.
Any number of causes (in addition to the injector) @ that cyl including low compression (mechanical), gasket problem, ECM (injector piezo stack charging), harness, etc.
As for regen, some dilution is normal (DPF equipped engines) and regen will cause some fuel to leak past the pistons rings and into the oil...........that's why you follow the OEM's recommended oil change interval....
What brand of injector was used as replacement and did they run a power bal test?
Idk what brand injector and from what I’m understanding is they don’t really know much about what they’re doing when it comes to diesels. I’m figuring if I want to move forward on it I have to assume it’s going to need a used motor and if I get lucky and can repair this one I’d be making out. Based on that we’re still a couple grand apart on it.
And as stated before no regents for this it’s deleted so I don’t think the problem is related to regen’s.
