Which side should I put the fuse? Solenoid/ start button

I'm hooking up a hot "start" button to crank the engine when I work under hood, a jumper switch for the solenoid.

I've got a 20 amp inline fuse, but I'm having a brain fart here. Which side should I attach the fused wire? Thanks!

(random Ford solenoid for example)

For an auxiliary start button, hook the fused wire to the battery terminal side and the other wire gets hooked to the small "S" terminal.
