I Usually start my 2016 F250 from inside the House about 5min before I plan to Leave. So last week I went outside expecting the Truck to be Running, it was Not.
So I hit the Remote again and all I heard was a Clunk no Start. When I used the Key She fired up but sounded Tired. I suspected a bad Battery or Batteries.
I guessed that the Batteries were giving everything they had to the Starter and Depriving the Remote Receiver of Voltage causing the Remote no Start condition.
We had a Cold snap Last Saturday and She wouldn't turn over at all, I used my Portable Jumper Box on the Driver side Battery and she kicked over.
I made it to the Dealer Today and was informed that said battery was Bad. The Good news was that I made the 3yr/36000 Warranty with 5 Days to Spare.
So Ford Bought one Battery, and I Bought the Other. This stuff usually happens to me a Few days after the 3/36000 ends,
So If your Remote stops working get those Batteries Checked Out.
Yep, when mine were weak last year I was able to start with the key (some mornings just barely) but remote start would fail with one honk once we got below 50°F. I knew the issue, I was just trying to get every day I could out of that second set.

The batteries in my ‘16 crapped the bed for me this fall too!! But I was well beyond the 36000 mile mark, so I was SOL as far as FoMoCo was concerned.
I took my truck in to get serviced at about 50K and they tested the batteries. One was bad. I had a maintenanace plan and they were only gonna cover one battery. The service manager came to me and said its ridiculous that they are only covering one battery. They gave me the second battery as well and said that if they couldn't get the maintenance warranty people to cover the cost they would. They have a customer for life.
