First off I am new to the 6.7 side. This is my sons truck. Its completely stock with 122k on it. I went to start and move it this morning. It acted like the battery was dead. So I grabbed my cables and jumped it off the right battery. It started right up. Pulled it into the driveway and shut it off. The charger shows 100%. It still wont start on its own and acts like a bad battery. This is all normal stuff. Here is the crazy part. If I use the remote start option, It start up perfect every time. What is wrong with me. ( or the truck ) I guess it could be batteries and using the remote doesn't turn on as many accessories?

Welcome to FTE, first off
Secondly, no, you're not crazy. What I've highlighted, you're 100% correct, that's the exact problem. One of your batteries is bad. Might as well replace 'em both as a pair.
Thanks for the reply. Been a part of these great forums for 7 years now. Mostly read over in the 6.0 forum. FTE has been an incredible wealth of knowledge over the years.
Back to the 6.7, the batteries are Motorcraft dated 2/14. Hopefully the ford dealership with put new ones back in it without a receipt.
Weak batteries in the newer models does a lot of weird stuff to the electronics now.
That is usually the first place to start when you have something weird and out of the blue.
Also if this truck is not going to be driven for an extended period of time I would put a battery charger on it occasionally it.
It will have a small draw just sitting there.
Thanks for the advise. My son Drives this thing almost daily. I was surprised that a good motorcraft battery would go bad this fast. I guess bad cells can just happen. I miss the days when these things were made in the USA and not Mexico. Seems like failures were less frequent.
I just put a pair of batteries in my 2011 Friday. Two days in a row I came out in the morning to find it at 11.4-11.5 volts and not wanting to start. First day I charged the batteries for several hours and all seemed fine. I thought I had a mystery current draw because everything was fine without even the slightest hint of slow cranking the day before. After having the charger on it all evening and it did it again the next morning, I knew what I was dealing with. With dual batteries, one of the batteries can drop a cell and you won't notice it all until it has gone on long enough to take the other battery with it. I don't do anything that is hard on batteries, but for the life of me I can't get more than 4 years out of them in a Superduty.
