Best f-250 A/T tire?

Just purchased a 95 F-250 and am curious what everyone thinks is the best All Terrain tire. I'm currently looking at the Firestone Destination A/T's for about 116$ a piece as well as the Goodyear Wrangler AT/S's for 160$ a piece. I do as much road driving as I do off-road driving as well as towing. let me know if you've had good experiences with either of these tires or what brands you prefer on an F-250. Thank you.

I've owned the Goodyear at/s on a 2002 2dr explorer. Was a pretty good tire, but I had terrible luck with picking up nails and thorns. By the time they were 50% tread, each had at least 2 holes patched.

I've had the firestone destination MT tire, and it's fantastic anywhere but ice and wet pavement because it isn't siped. It is pre drilled for studs though.

My f350 came to me with Nitto terragrapplers. Other than nasty soupy mud, they do very well. Cowsh-- certified too lol.

BFG at tires were great on all things except any mud. Not soft dirt, but mud. They gummed up fast and never cleaned out no matter how fast I spun em.

Big O has a great Bigfoot AT tire too, that's what i put on my explorer above when the GYs gave up.

I haven't used the GY Wrangler AT/S, but the Destination A/T's are a great all around tire, we used to use them on our 89 F-150 for snowplowing, and that truck never had a any trouble on or offroad.

I have Mickey Thompson ATZ P3's on my F-250, and so far I really like them. I've never used them in the snow (since I have dedicated snow tires), but they have performed well in both mud and wet roads. Plus I like that they look more aggressive like an M/T, but perform like an A/T.

Procomp extreme a/t is a solid all around performer, and the tread lasts a long time. If your off road experience doesn't involve mud, then any all terrain will do.

a set of hankook dynapro atm's came on my latest truck. i like the tread (fairly agressive and decently siped for snow) they have proformed well and the price is hard to beat, also have good reviews.

I just put a set of Wrangler Trailrunner AT's on my '95 F150 a few weeks ago, and have been very pleased with how they perform on and off road. My neighbor was impressed with how well my "one wheel drive" did in the muck while moving a playground set. Not sure if you care, but when I bought mine there was a $70 rebate from Goodyear, and it doubled to $140 if you used a Goodyear credit card... that's what I did, you can fill out the rebate form online and a prepaid Visa showed up a few days later.

My favorite tire has always been the BFG KO’s or the KO2’s.

That being said. They are overpriced and I didn’t get them last time I bought tires for my 4Runner.

I run the Treadwright Wardens with great luck. My pops ran 2 sets on his 2002 2500 gmc with great luck, and a coworker has run 2 sets of them on his 15 Ram with 147k miles.

I have a set of Wildpeak AT3W's right now. They're a solid tire all around. Their Achilles heel is mud; not good there at all. I have had the truck loaded with a light truck camper or flatbed with two snowmobiles (6200-6700 lbs gross) since I put the tires on, seeing 2400 miles per 1/32" of tread for wear (tire size LT235/85R16). Not great, but considering their ice traction and the amount of dirt they've seen, as well as my interstate speeds (75-80mph) it's not bad either. Based on this, I will not get over 40k miles from them. All highway miles at 65 mph you might get more, heavier loads you might get less.

I've had two set of BFG AT KO's, fine tire, better in mud than Falkens and slower wear, but not as highway friendly or as good on packed snow/ice, and rather expensive. These are discontinued anyway, replaced by the KO2. General Grabbers seem to be decent, a good friend has a set of those but he doesn't drive his truck enough for me to say much.

I think the right tire depends a lot on what you want from a tire. Everything is a compromise in one way or another. Want them to wear like iron? Probably won't grip ice terribly well. Claw through mud? Likely to give up some on road comfort. Is cost the biggest factor? So, what are your top priorities for tire performance?

Firestone Transforce a/t's on my chip truck are holding up pretty good.At 23k miles hauling heavy, they are somewhere between half to 3/4 wore down now.The Michelin m/s2's I ran previously were bald by this point.Looks like these will last about half again as long the Michelins.Good traction tires too.For a DRW I still can't go where a SRW can but with these tires, pretty close.I've gone where I shouldn't with 'em.I loaded up with chips and even in 4wd I couldn't make up the steep bank with the chipper while loaded.I had to unhook and leave the chipper and she walked up out.I'm talking steep as in,the front is several feet higher than the rear steep.Just grass though.I don't go through mud often.Sometimes at some dump spots it can get soupy and require 4wd but no issues with traction in muddy spots with the tires. They seem to be a good all round tire.I'll probably buy them again.

If you are looking for "E" rated tires that might affect pricing and choices.
I went with BFG KO2s because for the price, the specs fit the need for an A/T with an "E" load range.
