Here is what I did remove the lower front cover bolt pumped it full off grease and I mean full this pushed out the old out the bottom bolt hole. the top fill hole plug is a vent also(on my 76) it may not be a good idea to replace it with non vent style since grease tends to expand when heated.

My gearbox also had a vented plug, I replaced it with a non-vented plug. You'd be surprised how much grease is spit back out of the vented plug, it's quite a bit. I'd rather have that grease inside the gearbox not outside lol. So far I've had no issues with grease blowing past the seals.
