Hello everyone I'm new to the diesel scene, I recently purchased a 99 F-350 7.3 but I've been having problems with it, I'll be driving down the road at fairly low speed and it will just die but starts right back. I replaced the fuel filter and cps and today I drove it for the first time to work and back and thought the problem was fixed, until I pulled in my driveway, I was giving it a few minutes to wind down like I had read about but it just died, would anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?
Is it rough when it dies? Like a big rig when you turn it off?? Mine was doing this and it was the injection control pressure switch. With it running unplug the pig tail if it dies the icp is good if it keeps running it’s probably bad. Check inside the connector for oil. If there’s any in the connector replace it
It dies quickly with no warning and yes it does seem kinda rough when it dies, I will check out the icp as soon as I'm done working and let you know. Thank you for your advice.
So as soon as I pulled in my driveway i pulled the plug from the back of the icp and nothing happened, the truck did not die and there was no difference in how the truck was running.
If there wasn’t a change it could be the icp. I didn’t have any help on this when I had to figure mine out. Those little buggers aren’t cheap the cheapest ones I’ve seen with a decent warranty are from riffraff diesel parts. I could be wrongI know it stings when you buy something like this and it doesn’t work but see if someone you know has one you can swap and try out before you buy it. If I lived near ya I would let you do that but...mine was doing the same thing though.. Die when I was getting ready to get on the hey and started back up. And it was the icp Also I had some loping symptoms on mine not all the time just intermittently. While parked the rpms would lope a bit. Check for oil in your pig tail connector? Additionally if I fiddled with the icp connector wires while still connected it would effect the rpms and give me that loping sound. It could just be your plug too so blow it out with some compressed air and drive it for a while.. how often does it die
I did check the connector there was no signs of oil in it, as far as how often it dies, it's hard to say, last week I left the house and I had to restart it 3 times before I got out of my development, then It didn't happen again until yesterday when I pulled in my driveway, now I drove it today and it didn't happen at all

did you drive it after you checked the plug? My rpms would flutter every now and then
Replace the CPS with one from International and try it. An instant stop like you're describing generally means that the CPS lost signal. It will probably store a code in the PCM as well.
