I know, I know, there's a garage section, but no one seems to look down there :-)
Anyone have one of these portable quickJack lifts? Rated for 7,000 pounds which should be fine for the Expy. Just wondering if anyone has any pros or con's
Looks like a PITA to setup to use, plus no creeper access from the sides. I can use my air powered floor jack and 4 jack stands and get the vehicle up in half the time without spending $1,500 to do it.
I just use some extra tall 6-ton jack stands I got over at Harbor Freight. The floor jack I have is an Omega 21032 but from what I see is now discontinued. And no it doesn't lift the whole truck at once, I do the front and slip in the jack stands, then do the back and slip in the jack stands. I can have the truck off the ground in about 3-minutes flat.
The nice thing about the air jack is when lifting cars with low ground clearance. You know how when you first start jacking you can only move the pump handle up and down about an inch, well with the air jack you slide the jack into place and squeeze the trigger and up it goes.
Yes ...although looks like you did well. I can't find reasonably priced jacks like you have now ...only bottle jacks which are a little high. Would work on my truck just fine ...but if I am going to do this I would want something that works on our cars too.
One other question if you are still listening here. I assume you are quite comfortable with the truck up on those 6k jacks stands ...all four completely off the ground? How high have you had the truck?
I've had the stands all the way up. That's 6-tons of support per set or a total of 24,000 pounds. The expeditions run around 6,000 pounds or about 1/4 the capacity of the jack stands. If you're nervous then get the 12-ton stands.
I am not thinking of load limit on the stands ...6 tons per stand should be plenty as you indicate. I was curious about stability as the stands go higher and your input gives me more confidence on that. Thanks.
