It will lift the front end up, but I feel is a bit under rated for safety. I have a 4 ton Craftsman than works well. I do also use a 2 1/2 ton Snap On floor jack, that has a 30'' lift, and does ok. I rebuilt it after over 25yrs of use because it would bleed down and got where it wouldn't lift anymore. Bought the Craftsman to use until I got the Snap On rebuilt. IIRC, the Craftsman was around $90 by itself, but won't lift as high.

Nope, I got a package like that from pep-boys and it will lift enough for the spring clearance then its poops out under the strain, 2 ton here. I borrowed a 3 or maybe it was a 4 ton jack, can't remember, from my neighbor and that lifted it period. Also, you are now the record holder for the most threads started without getting any info from the search engine..

I feel the my Snap On 2 1/2 is more of a commercial duty jack and has more "reserve" than the parts store versions. That is why is it still does the job.

Ahh, didn't think of the reserve. Mines a Torin "Big Red" made in china, I guess mass produced with a small hydraulic cylinder. I bought this jack and floor stands creaper combo mainly for my trailer.

We figured that out Brother, lol.. Your cool, ask away... O yea, to filter out things you don't want to search, hit the search then hit the advanced button on the bottom, it will allow you to redefine you search to your specific questions.

My Snap On 2 1/2 ton has a larger cylinder than the Craftsman 4 ton. The Craftsman does have the "quick lift" feature though, which I like. Less pumping to get the jack raised, but won't lift as high.

The smaller jacks that are closely rated to your trucks weight will lift the truck, but they don't tend to last long. I have a $69 'Shinn Fu' (the name to look for, I tellya!) jack that weighs about 90#. Awkward and heavy, but it has lasted for years, lifting heavy trucks. I'm not sure what its rating is - perhaps 3.5 tons?

The smaller $29 jacks either don't go high enough, or last 1.5 years and then leak like a sieve. They're also not very stable with a couple tons on them.

I bought my jack at Advance Auto many years ago. The wide footprint of this jack makes it stable and the quicklift handle makes it convenient.

Trust me, a jack and jackstands are worth spending a little more money on for safety. I've lifted my frontend with a 2 ton Craftsman jack, but it just doesn't feel safe. I'll be upgrading soon.
