1947 Pickup 6 Cylinder G Radiator Hoses Needed

Radiator hoses had to be cut off when I pulled the radiator, no loss not original. I can use universal which is what was on it but formed ones would be nice. Anybody found a suitable replacement from another vehicle that works or somebody selling them? V8 parts are in abundance 6’s not so much. I’ll go off to the old NAPA store next week and wander the hose collection hopefully I can find something that is close or can be cut down.

Thanks

Pretty sure I never found any for mine and just used the universal type.

Yup, I can almost always find something that can be cut down if they lat me wander around the hose aisle. Never did like the look of those flex hoses.

This will work for the lower hose. You may have to use a flex hose for the upper.

Another thing I have done is have an exhaust shop bend a piece of tubing to the right bend and use small section of hose at each end. Henry even did that.

That's a great idea. Going to file that one for later use

The top hose looks like it is straight in this pic. If you find a thermostat housing from an H series 226 truck the outlet angle on the housing points more at the radiator inlet. Although the one in this pic is the right angle.

I'll check it out. 48 is an H but if it works who cares. It shows as a 1¾ hose 47 uses a 1½ so I could use bushings. Upper hose on wife's is formed, I'll see if a straight hose will work. Thanks for the tips.

The wife got her 47 is back on the road. Had the radiator re-cored by a shop in Frankfort Il, cost about the same as a new one but got to use the original tanks and brackets. Couldn't find a supplier that had a correct lower hose 2GC 8260A but a lower hose for a 48 H-series 6 cyl worked with a couple of NAPA reducers to go from a 1 3/4 hose to 1 1/2 outlets on the rad and water pump. The molded hose is available from NAPA NBH7133 or Dayco C70391 and probably every other parts store since it fits Ford Checker Dodge and a whole bunch more. Upper hose was 14" of straight 1 1/2 hose.

Also replaced the Pertronix module that left my wife stranded. The PO was running solid core wires which will burn out the module. That was the winter project. Now she has to put the head lining kit in (got from Mac's), new tank sender hopefully will work and adjust the brakes.

Hope the hose info this helps someone.
