radiator hose help

Anyone have any tricks that will help my problem? I have looked through all the local inventory of radiator hoses I can find trying to locate a hose or section of one that will fit my need. I am looking for the lower hose for a 351w engine to a "stock" 56 f100 radiator, I put stock in quotation marks because its has the same shape but has extra cooling and a trans cooler mounted inside. The two ends are different sizes and the routing requires that a sharp bend be made in a short distance. The piece I was able to find is on the truck but it appears that the hose is pinched some now while cold and I am concerned that when it is hot it will pinch more and reduce the flow. I have heard of bending a piece of pipe and slideing the hose inside but I don't think this will help my problem. ANy suggestions? Thanks

I don't know how tight a bend you can get in the stainless flex hoses but they com with 1 1/4 1 1/2 and 1 3/4' adaptors. I,m seeing them in Jeg's catalog for$29.00 and up.

I know you can get flexible radiator hoses with two different sized ends. Have you looked into those?

Also, look into some Ford 4x4 lower radiator hoses. I'm running one from a '79 F-350 in my effie. It fit right in there. But, I think both ends are the same size.

It's the little things on these projects that give you the biggest problems, isn't it?

You can also get rubber reducer bushing for the radiator hose ends that let you step down a radiator hose in 1/4" increments.
Do a search at http://www.napaonline.com/MasterPage....aspx?PageId=0
enter in part #902 (which is a 2" to 1 3/4" bushing) they have six different sizes ranging from 1 1/2" up to 3"

I know what you are going through. I have been back and forth to 4 different parts stores scouring through their stocks of molded hoses trying to find a set up for my 49 F1, with 500ci Caddy and Dodge truck radiator. The lower was not a problem and a reducer bushing was all I needed. I bought numerous hoses, and returned just as many. I even had a mock up hose built from several patched together pieces....agh

For my upper hose I ended up get a 12" radius sweep of 1 1/2" electrical conduit from the local hardware store and running a small piece of rubber hose on either end.

good luck with it
Bobby
