Motorcycle carrier

Has anyone used one from nortern tool(item # 125910) or similar for transporting an offroad bike it weighs about 260 lbs I know the excursion can take the weight but do not want to use a trailer for one bike on a trip. Thanks

Right on just looking to see what other people have used successfully do you notice a lot of wobble during long trips like 6-7 hr on the highway did you use on pick up or excursion curious if it will hit back of excursion with handle bars pics not real clear on how much space.

There is a piece that clamps the carrier to the hitch and all but eliminates the sway/wobble.

I've only bounced the bike off the back window once. Was driving through a field and found a drainage ditch and stopped very abruptly. I was genuinely surprised it didn't bust out the back window with how hard it hit. I now tie a foam block to the inside bar, just in case

This carrier is rated for 400 lbs. I've carried a BMW 650 on it before that was 380 lbs without issue.

Harbor freight also sells the one like gots a sol posted. I just put one on my dads TT. They work but I prefer the style that pulls the front wheel into a chauk. Probably just personal preference but I think it secures the bike better or at least how I prefer to do it.

On trips down to Baja where we can do hundreds of miles on rough dirt roads I would run a ratchet strap from the front and back of the platform to the frame of the excursion and cinch it down tight. Pretty much eliminates any wobble.

The style i prefer with the front wheel hoop.

The harbor freight style pulls the bike backwards and the front wheel is clamped to the platform.

I have that one for my cr 250. It works. It's a huge pain in the butt.
Eta.. In that picture it wouldn't be too bad. Close to the ground. Mine is getting close to 2 feet up.

Agreed, total PITA that is why I prefer the one with the front wheel hoop like in my first pic.

PITA aside, the Pull backwards style are cheap and for occasional use they get the job done. But for frequent use they suck simply because of the tie down process involved.

I would ride so much more if I had a little trailer. That's going to be my Christmas present to my self this year.

Agreed, trailers are nice.

I rode a lot more when I had 100's of miles of trails in my back yard
