2" Lift 1977 F250 4x4

Guys, with a 2" lift on my leaf springs, do I need a drop pitman arm, or should I keep the stock arm? Any other mods needed for reliable steering?

If anyone has any thoughts would appriciate. Just trying to figure out if I need a drop pitman... If there there other mods that are necessary or would be better than a drop pitman.

Joel,

I added a leaf to the front end of my 78 supercab which raised it a couple of inches and the pitman arm is just fine. I will note that the original springs were probably a little tired and it has a 460 in it.

2" and less and you're usually ok, but is yours the 77.5 style that bolts right to the drivers side knuckle? They can be more finicky.

Thanks for the replies and help. Yes it is a 1977.5 F250. It has a dana 44 front, and the steering arm is bolted to the knuckle on the drivers side, and the drag link connects to it from the pitman.

Guess I will try it and see, rather than spend any more $.

You may want to try one of the "lift blocks" that go between pitman and steering arm, I wouldn't recommend them for bigger lifts but should be ideal for you.

Anything over 2" change it all.
