Road Trip, What To Take With Me??
I am about to take a 5,000 mile road trip. I was wondering what you carry all the time. I may have to do my 1st oil change on the road so I have my filters and oil with me. How does the rest of this list look? What am I missing?

I did an early oil change as well, but in all honesty you shouldn't have to worry about oil or fuel filters. Are you hauling or towing? Are you able to fill up at reputable stations that move plenty of diese volume?
If you were thinking about doing fuel filters, I would break that seal on the primary fuel bowl along the frame rail while you're at home first. You could run in to unexpected problems like a cracked housing, or knowing how the check valve works when turning the bowl three turns before attempting to drain it. I didn't crack mine, but it took a socket as well as an adjustable rubber filter wrench. Lubricate the threads on the bowl when you put it back on and anything on the road will be much easier.

I carry a set of sockets, SAE and Metric, shallow and deep well, a set of SAE and Metric open/box end wrenches, tow strap, jumper cables, torque wrench, 4 way tire iron, jack, extra water, PM22, emergency gear and lots of dog stuff all the time. Plus the under seat storage has other gear. Gloves, flashlights, knives, saw, multitool, ect.
Enjoy your trip, should be a fun one in the truck.

Not quite true.
I've found plenty of suspension components that are sae.
Mostly metric is a better statement.
Metric tools and a crescent wrench would get you by.

There is no need to purchase nor carry any EGT sensors. The 2015 and up have not shown any EGT sensor problems to the extent the earlier year trucks did. If you need to have truck towed to a dealer, use the Ford free Roadside Assistance that came with truck. You should have a card with number in the literature that came with truck.
My 2015 is 1 and 3/4 years old with 21,000 on it and not problems with truck. I made a trip to the west coast via Michigan from Alabama pulling a 5th wheel trailer last August with no problems.
My suggestion, stop worrying and go. Carry the typical tools. Since truck holds 13 quarts of oil, I would consider paying someone to change the oil with the oil you plan to carry.

Thanks for the tips from all. Glad to hear that so far the EGT sensors are not an issue.
Forgot to say I will not be towing this time but will have a full load. I also will have a jug of DEF, already had to be one in (3,000 miles and 90% of that is interstate).
I do plan on stopping at the big truck stops for fuel along the way.

One other thing, take plenty of Music tunes. Once your are on the road, that truck will cruise, ride and drive itself. Now if you like singing, that motor will sing to you all the way and never break a stroke. Enjoy the trip, have fun, be careful as the other guy is what I concern myself.

Do take a spare frame mount fuel filter housing. I had one taken out on my new truck by road debris, low fuel pressure, reduced power, side of the road, hazmat and tow truck calls. When we got to the dealer, they didn't have the housing in stock and had to steal one off the lot.

That is pretty rare Skismuggs. I put 145,000 on my 2011 and have 29,000 miles on my 2015 and have never replaced a fuel filter cap. I wouldn't worry about hauling one.
I don't haul DEF with me. Every truck stop, Walmart, Farm Store sells DEF. It's not hard to find when your truck pops up it's 500 miles to empty. Just fill it up at your next fill fuel fill up.
When I drain my oil, I drain it into a 5 gallon bucket. Put the lid on the bucket and take it to the recycling. Finding a drain pan that holds 13-15 quarts is hard. Buckets are easy.
I keep the basic hand tools, So if I had to change a head light, change a fuse, change a flat etc.
As mentioned, I'd drain the fuel/water separator before the trip, top off the coolant and windshield washer. If I knew that I might need a oil change en-route ( these trucks Oil Minder will pop off every 7500 miles) I'd probably change the oil before the trip rather than mess with it en-route.
Load some Audible books on a your phone or thumb drive and couple thousand songs on the thumb drive and head out.

Since I only have 3,000 miles on it I heard to wait til the truck says change it. Should I change at 5,000 or 7,500 miles?
Also jack, I have floor jacks in the truck of my cars (of course they are 2 ton). Do you all use a 4 ton floor jack or bottle jacks?
