4r100 r&r kicking my ass, dropped it

4r100 r&r kicking my ***, dropped it

2000 F250 4x4 7.3

Flexplate broke around the bolts in the center, and I pulled transmission to replace it. Left transfer case attached. Sure as **** as I lowered it down it slipped off transmission jack and rolled over in semi-controlled fashion.

It's so heavy I can't get jack back under it. I want to remove transfer case with it on the ground, to make it lighter and lift transmission up alone and then reinstall case on it.

What's involved with pulling the case off the back of 4r100? I don't think I can drain transfer case fluid anymore it's too low to the ground. Also keep reading about some washers that fall out during removal and whatnot.

Don't give up on getting it back up. Use some wood blocks and some pry bars and lift it a little at a time. Then block it and lift again. You can do it!

Find someone with a Motorcycle Jack. Probably several in your neighborhood. Square it up with a few pieces of 2x4 and a ratchet strap and raise it right into place. A standard Transmission Jack is awkward with the 4R100.

There is no need to drain the transfer case to remove it. Simply remove the 6 bolts holding it to the extension housing and slide it off the output shaft. There are no washers to worry about. The transfer case shafts all have seals and the only thing between the housing and the case is a gasket. As long as the rear of the transmission is level or higher than the front, no fluid will spill out after the transfer is removed. You may just get a small amount that was in the extension housing.

Removed transfer case and it was easy. Got the transmission up on the floor jack (don't ask how) and close to the engine. Gonna wait for a friend before I mate them to make sure I don't drop it again while wiggling it into place. Thanks guys

Got it wrapped up and installed everything. Runs great shifts great. I have few transfer case error codes

Code: P1876 - Transfer Case 2-Wheel Drive Solenoid Circuit Open Or Short To Ground

Code: P1865 - Transmission Transfer Case Contact Plate Power Short to Ground

Code: P1867 - Transmission transfer case contact plate general circuit failure

I made sure all transfer case plugs were installed and clicked in all the way....
