UVCH issues and test results

My truck is currently missing and surging at lower rpms. I'm not receiving any engine codes.

Research has pointed me to possibly issues with the UVCH plugs. As a result I tested the 42 pin connector based on Tugly's info in his signature.

I tested each pin three times and got the same results each time.

I certainly was not expecting readings as high as some of these so my intent is to test at the valve covers and see if the readings are normal.

If the readings are normal would this indicate a bad wiring harness?

I expected to see a reading that was lower than 3 to 5 ohms on some of pins but have no idea what these elevated ratings indicate.

That indicates a bad UVCH on the passenger side for sure. I'd replace both with new OEM, but that's how I am.

I have the new one ordered. Would the .50 mod be worth trying 1st?

Just wondering, is it possible to get high readings like this at the 42 pin connector, and see normal readings at the UVCH. If so, would that indicate a possible short/wire rub issue somewhere, between the valve cover and the IDM? Possibly drivers side valve cover or shock tower near the IDM?

I saw this on the iPhony yesterday and didn't see the #8 reading. Both sides are shot.

Here's a 50-cent fail (your call):

Reading from the IDM could show a bad 42-pin connector, but when reading from the 42-pin - it has to be on the VC connections, in or out. UVCH is by far the most common problem, given the environment those electrical components endure. Years of boiling-hot oil splashing about, trying to infiltrate the seals while 120-volt spikes surge through them? It's an engineering feat that they last as long as they do.

Having issues with my truck as well- UVCH on drivers side wasn't seated- did .50 mod on drivers side, she's still running rough and throwing the P1316 code. Question: on the 9 pin connector test- is that done with the key "on" or off altogether? And does anyone have a pic or link on how to do the test?

Last night I tested the connectors at the VC plugs.
I found the the pax side read normal.

Drivers side was off but pulled the drivers side VC. Plug was loose so did .50 cent and that fixed the readings.

With 1,3,7 all having high readings at the 42 pin but are ok at the VC...

Are there other connectors that may be loose, a loose ground or a wire between the 42 pin an the pax side?

Thanks,
Wink

Just going to throw tis out there....

They have a Harness Connector that will prevent it from separating.

I replaced the passenger side uvch harness as well as the outer pigtail, did the .50 mod while it was open. Also pulled driver's side and did .50 in there as well.

The miss / surge seems better but haven't driven it much today.

Doing new up pipes etc tomorrow! Think I'm getting closer...
