So I have the 13 Platinum w the upgraded Sony stereo. I've had the truck for 2 years now and need louder bass and treble. Anybody here know of any add ons rather than buying all new components? My Acura TL had an aftermarket amp made u could just swap out w the original. That was nice!
I'm not technically confident enough to try to replace the factory amp and sub but there are two threads here recently where guys have done it. Try searching through a few pages using terms like "sub" or "audio".
I installed Polk 1" tweeters in the same locations as the Sony ones and it made a huge difference. It's much more obvious when using your phone or a cd for the source. The Sirius audio quality is horrible. The HD fm is good too. When I use my phone the treble is very solid and the factory sub has much more presence.
Good luck. Trying just a speaker upgrade first is the easiest and cheapest upgrade.
I recently upgraded my 2014 F350 Sony system. I had to leave the OEM amp connected to the system, removed the Sony sub and installed a 10" Digital Designs sub, with a custom box behind the rear seat, and a Digital Designs amp to power the new sub. In the front, I replaced the tweeter and mids in the doors with Digital Design components powered off the Sony amp. Sounds great, plenty of thump!
Zeus, where did you get the sub signal from that feeds the sub amp? Which wires, location and colors?
Thanks
I had someone else install the components. Give me a day or two and I will see if I can get you that info. Worst case, I'll open mine up and take some pictures for you.

What model number Polks did you get? I've been thinking about doing the exact same thing.
ruschejj, it looks like they used the green/white, purple/orange, purple/green and white/orange wires from the Sony amp going to the output converter.. Pictures below
Thank you very much Zeus. Exactly what I need. Some day I will do the same as you. I built my own enclosure years ago that fits behind the driver side rear seat. I used to have two 10" subs in my 2011 truck, it was very nice.
Les, I will have to get back to you, I'm about to leave the hotel and work/drive all day.

Don't use the 'sub' outputs, use the front channels. Sub signal is heavily filtered and sounds like crap. You can view the frequency responses of the signals in my audio thread. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post15335819
The wire colors are also in this thread. Zeus-FX4's pics show sub wires, which I don't recommend, but I am a picky ******* when it come to audio!
