Seperate amp for factory sub???
I'm currently in the long, drawn out process of putting an aftermarket CD player in my 93 Ex. After finding out I need to bypass the factory amp because the new HU is amped, I began the tedious process of excavating the factory amp. This is probably a stupid question, but is the smaller amp next to the main one for the sub? Will I need to bypass that as well? I'm half- tempted to pull out all the speakers and run new wires from HU to them, but I'm sure that wouldn't be easy either! Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Yes, the smaller amp is for the sub. If you ditch the factory head unit, I'm pretty sure you have to ditch the sub as well. MAKE SURE TO KEEP THE LITTLE WHITE BOX that is on the plasitc mounting piece that the subs/amps are on. This little white box controls the power antenna (atleast on my '95 ltd it does).
Ditch the plastic mounting piece back there and install aftermarket subs + amp.

Thanks for your help. My brother in-law hooked up the speakers in like 10 minutes. You were right that the sub had to be cut out. Right now, I'm just happy not to have wires hanging out my dash, but since I only have mid and high, I'll be wanting a sub SOON! He seems to think that he may find a way to put in something just before the sub amp that will enable us to use it's amp and the sub, but if that doesn't work, I'm open to suggestions of a sub to replace it...
