ok iam new here but I need to reach out to find out what I have going on first off I have a 2000 f350 xlt and prior to the trans completely going out I was traveling through the mountains and when I was headed down the mountain I geared down the trans to help with breaking but the trans did not change gears it was as if I put the truck in neutral and free rolled so when I got off the mountain I pulled off i put the truck in 1st gear and took off again went thru all the gears everything worked no slipping few week later same deal down the mountain no gears when I geared the truck down when I got to the bottom of the mountain truck went on fine I hit a hill have truck a lil gas to maintain speed it down shifted and just reved out I let off gas it locked back into overdrive and kept pulling got to a stop light went to pull off truck wouldn't move it would begin to move and then just rev up does anyone have any idea what could cause this there is no trans noise rattling fluid is clean and not burnt I dropped pan not a lot of shavings on the magnet filer was not clogged if anyone has run into this before please let me know what you did to fix it the truck has 385k buy the trans is a reman was put in years ago

You can just fix the coast clutch if that's all that you find wrong when it's opened up. But the small additional cost to do the whole thing when it's out means most people do that, not just patch one problem.
