Man. Trans Questions
I have been reading and trying to research on my trans, but I
am still clueless on a couple of things. Still having shifting problems. If I dont double-cluth from 4th to 5th, it WILL NOT go into 4th or 5th gear. I changed fluid in trans, no help.
I hear allot about a M50D 5-speed trans, but the only thing I
could find on mine on the white Ford Label on the left hand side
was " E 18 A" in big bold letters on the white tag. Is this the same transmission? Will it hurt the clutch to "double clutch" the trans allot. It allways shifts allot better when I do. AND. I STILL have ALLOT of trouble getting the dog-goneded thing to go into
first gear, ANYTIME, no matter what I do!

I bet you have a M5OD. Have you noticed fluid level going down in the tranny? Otherwise the syncros are a pretty common failure in the M5OD. If you are going to change trannies, i would not dink around with the M5OD. I would go ZF 5 speed, a lot stronger trans.
