front differential

I have a 2000 7.3 4x4 excursion and my driver side front made a horrible pop noise the other day when I was in 4x4. I pulled the warn lock, hub assembly, and axle. The lock sprocket was aliitle bent so I straightened it and put everything back together, no other visible signs. 4x4 still doesn't work so I got a feeling it is in the front differential, I can't find any good videos or instruction on this. Does anybody know where I can watch one, as I am not real familiar with rebuilding it? I am sure once I open it up that is what I will need to do, so I need a parts list also what is good to replace while I am in there. I was thinking of just rebuilding it if that is the smart way to go. I would like to watch something first so I am not in over my head.

Sorry to ask this, but in what way is it indicating it is not working? Is it the light won't come on or you can tell the front wheels are not engaging. It helps diagnose.
