Here it is: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...g-problem.html
To the OP, ya might just wanna bump your original thread instead of starting a new thread which requires us to hunt for the original. Dig? Thanks... it helps us and you stay on track.
...With the engine off, wheels chocked, and transmission selector in neutral, loosen the neutral safety switch at the transmission and with a straightened paperclip, insert the paper clip into the alignment hole. Tighthen the neutral safety switch and remove the paper clip.
Put the transmission selector in "Park" and test. Post your result.
For good measure, clean the battery posts and clean and tighten both ends of the battery cables. Post your result.

Already replied in the OP's original post.
EDIT: Added my reply to the OP's other, original thread:
More than likely you need to adjust your NSS (neutral start switch).
On the '79 model it should be on the side of the transmission.
Put the transmission in neutral, loosen the two retainer screws and insert the drill (or paper clip, etc.). Once the drill bit goes all the way in, tighten the screws.
While you're under there, look for wear in the linkage, especially the little stud that attaches the shift rod to the shift arm on the trans.

Did what you advised and when Bob (my bf ) went to loosen the retaining bolts they were very loose already . Did the paperclip into the hole and followed the rest of the instructions . Truck didn't start . He's going through each step again to make sure he did it correctly the first time . I will post results after .

Hold the key in the "start" position. Slowly pull the gear shift from park to drive. You're checking to see if the truck wants to start with the gearshift in any position. This checks for excess wear in the linkage.
If it doesn't show any signs of trying to turn over, then do what JWC 3 suggested. Jump the starter solenoid and let us know what happens.
