I've got a '78 F150 Supercab, and i'm looking to replace the motor,but am having a hard time trying to find a dependable manufacture.So far I've looked at Recon, and Marshall Engines but outlook is'nt good.Anyone buy engines from autozone could give me their experiences.Thats where I'm looking to get one.

Here is a way to determine who to trust. Ask them to build/find you one with a certain specs or just try to get them to tell you what specs were used to build the engine you want to purchase. None of the parts stores around where I am will try at all to get anyone this information. I avoid parts store rebuilt engines because of the unwillingness of them to get any of the specs on an engine before I purchase it.
Purchasing a rebuilt engine from an unfamiliar company might get you an engine like I obtained once. It was bored .060 over and had several valves that weren't sealing very well. I tore the engine down and found a dented journal in the reused cam and the main bearing caps had been filed down which caused too much bearing crush. It was a horribly built engine. So ask all kinds of questions and refuse to take delivery of an engine that you don't feel comfortable with.

I can't figure out why he wouldn't come back. It takes a little gall to ask a question but most people say thanks or something and then leave, I even answered his question pretty quick.

I dunno I thought maybe he would come back to see if somebody had answered him. Maybe he just went and bought a rebuilt motr and is hard at work putting it in. hmmm doesn't really matter to me just seemed odd.
