The first guy I talked to wasn't sure so he double checked availabilty. He said they sell a brand I'd never heard of. I got to thinking about my question about different owners so I called a different NAPA which I know is owned by a different guy and they also said Jaspers weren't available. They mentioned yet another brand I hadn't heard of. This leads me to believe that individual store owners do indeed source from different places. So that being said, I don't doubt that a particular NAPA in MT would sell Jaspers where, on the other hand, noone around here in ID does.
I wish I could find a local distributor. I'd like to get a quote besides the Jasper website.
I don't know Scott. My neighbor doesn't get home from work until later but I will ask him agian.
Onyxtyger-- the 351 and 400 engines are basically identical the only difference is the crankshaft and pistons. You can interchange any parts between the two, except for maybe a cam, the 400 makes better torque and HP so you don't need such an aggressive cam, it will still fit just won't work as well.
Instead of posting a bunch of times before anybody answers you, you can click the 'edit' button, you have 60 minutes to edit a post. good luck
Sorry for all the posts its just that i'm not use to getting so much help.Anyway, it's good that 351m and 400 r interchangable, now I can go ahead and bump up the power.Thx a bunch guys.
So I can just interchange all my external parts to the 400, hmmmmm starting to sound very manly. Hehehehe.

In the first link Million gave the guy has "Engine Tech: Power Secrets of the 400C Revealed!" at the top of the page. I just thought it was funny. Die hard Cleveland guys (I'm just a semi-die-hard Cleveland guy) would scoff and probably take offense to that statement. If you read through the page you'll learn a few of the fundamental differences between the 351C and the 351M/400. They may seem minor but OH what a difference.
Mounted, Modified, (what was the other one?). When will anyone have a difinitive answer to what the M stands for?
I will digress a little bit. The books I have refer to 351C, 351M, and leave no designation behind the 400. Logic would dictate that since the 351M and 400 share the same deck height, journal size, and everything else aside from stroke and rods the 400 should be designated a M. But since when has Ford ever been logical? Perhaps it's bacause there aren't 3 different 400s to designate like the 351. They were all produced in Cleveland weren't they (except the Windsor)? I don't know, that's why I ask. I don't see where on that page where the 400 is referred to as a C.
Sorry, I didn't mean to sidetrack the original topic of sourcing a good remaned. engine.
As I said I was just worried about the Edelbrock Intake fitting a 400 other than that everything else will be replaced.
Now anyone know where I can get a decent pair of headers and duel exhaust kits?
What are the 3/4" and 1/2" holes on the front of the intake for?I've never seen the Original intake so I have no idea what devices are supposed to go there.Check out what I'm Talking abot plz.
The hole on the upper left of the pic is for the thermactor air injection. The hole below and to the right of it is on the intake runner and is for vacuum accy hookup. There is a matching vac port hole on the upper right hand side.
So I can block off the 3/4" hole since I'm not using any egr or thermactor systems. And the previous owner had the distributor hosed to the 1/2" hole via hose adapter. Is this correct?Or should I hook the vaccuum advance to the holley carburetor?
By the way on an important note this is the best forum on automotive mateers I've ever been to thanx to all for putting up with my questions.
