im looking for a remanufactured engine for my 79 f-150 4x4. what i want is a 400, but i was wondering if any of you new any good places where i could get a remanufactured engine at a good price. thanks

I bought a 351M from Autozone; remanned by Recon. It's only five months old now, but it has been good so far. the prices were pretty good, although it's only got a one year warranty.

There's a website called rebuiltengines.com and they have what you're looking for for $1499 but i'd recommend from experience with the 400, to get a 390 instead. it is a more dependable engine than the Modified engines(351, 400) it sells for $1699. it's a big block and its an older engine so it packs alot bigger punch than the 400. but just a suggestion. my buddy's brother has an old truck with a 400 that just blew up. My buddy just got a 68 f-100 with a new 390 and it runs like a top.
