The line is 3/8" and I thought I used a 5/8" to take it off the nut when I took the bowl out to rebuild it. Now, I can't seem to get the full size wrench on and am looking to buy a stubby wrench. It is in a tight spot and I want to make sure I get the right size.
Now my problem- I don't think the nut is tight against the bolt. It feels like there is a little bit of rubber between the two (the nut and bolt in the fuel bowl). I can tighten the nut and feel it "spring" in and then back a little. Is that the parker sleeve that didn't seat right?
When I put the sleeve on the fuel line and reinserted into the bowl I'm not 100% certain the line went all the way in to the lip to push the sleeve back. In other words, as I tightened the nut it may have been pushing the line and sleeve to fully seated before really engaging the threads.
Are you saying that the Parker sleeve may have "road up" onto the flared lip of the line, not allowing it to seat properly when tightened? It is possible that this could have happened. You may need to take the nut off and make sure the sleeve is behind the lip. Hold the line against the fitting while starting the nut and tightening it down.
